Grace Holshouser Beaver, 92, a longtime resident of Danville, died Friday, November 3, 2017, at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on February 4, 1925, in Salisbury, NC to the late John Calvin and Laura Eleanora Brown Holshouser. In 1945 she married Ben Huston Beaver, who preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Beaver was a graduate of Averett University. She worked for First National Bank before taking over her husband’s business, Beaver Optical Company, at the time of his death. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church for over sixty years. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Carl Andrew Holshouser and her step-brother, Earl Holshouser. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Kay Rice (Thomas), of Placida, FL and Patricia Ellen Beaver, of Danville; three grandchildren, Kathryn Rice Harrison (Matthew), of Midlothian, VA, Thomas Johnathan Rice (Amy), of Alexandria, VA, and Michael Benjamin Rice (Jane), of Westport, CT; four great-grandchildren, Monroe and Martha Grace Harrison, and Elly and Thomas Jackson Rice; two sisters, Alice Louise Linker, of Rockwell, NC and Emma Ruth Beaver, of Charlotte, NC; and three brothers, John David Holshouser (June), of Myrtle Beach, SC, Philip Ray Holshouser (Frances), of Charlotte, NC, and Guy Richard Holshouser (Rachel), of Sanford, NC. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Highland Burial Park, with the Reverend Meredith Williams officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff at Roman Eagle, who provided attentive, thoughtful, and loving care to Mrs. Beaver over the past three years.
