Geraldine Adams

Geraldine “Gerri” Shelton Adams, 90, passed from this life peacefully on October 1, 2022 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on March 4, 1932, in Gretna, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Jack Shelton Sr. and Myrtle Compton Shelton. Gerri was married to the late Rev. Lynwood H. “Bill” Adams. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jack Shelton Jr. and Palmer Darrell “Pete” Shelton and one sister, Doris Shelton Davidson. She is survived by a son Terry Lee Adams and wife, Patricia, of Lynchburg, Va.; and a daughter Donna Adams Brown and husband, David, of Danville, Va.; one brother, James Compton Shelton and wife, Mary, of Danville; six grandchildren, William Christopher Adams (Kerry), Charles C. Adams (special friend Bukky), Catherine K. Adams, James Brandon Lewis (Aliea), Joseph P. Del Popolo (special friend Kim), and Michael D. Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Lewis, Isabella and Madeline Adams. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on October 4, at Faith Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Daniel Lackey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of the staff at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and those at Danville Regional Hospital for all of their help and care and to all of the other personal friends who helped with her medical care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Faith Memorial Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
