George Holman Snead, Jr. DDS was born in Danville, Virginia on January 10, 1933. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Louise Snead. He was also proceeded in death by his parents, George Holman Snead, SR. DDS, Mary Ellen Hodges Snead, and his grandchildren, John Hodges Rennard and Daniel Holman Rennard. He is survived by his children, George Wesley Snead, Mark Channing Snead (Lynn), Mary Lynn Lindeman (Mike), and Jeanne Rennard (Tom). His grandchildren are John Snead (Rachel), Amanda Cowgill (Michael), David Lindeman (Emily), Matthew Lindeman (Morgan), Luke Lindeman, Will Rennard, Nathan Rennard (Marion), Paul Rennard, Samuel Rennard (Isley), Mary Grace Rennard, and Catherine Rennard. Great grandchildren are Seth, Leah, and Grant Cowgill, and Emma, Mark, and Laura Kate Lindeman.
George attended Davidson College and played all four years on the tennis team. After a short stent in the military, he attended the Medical College of Virginia and graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Science. George practiced dentistry for over 40 plus years in Danville. He was well respected by his peers and patients alike. He was president of the Virginia Dental Society. George served as an elder and attended First Presbyterian Church for 60 years. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
