George Perry

George M. Perry, 66, of Danville, VA died July 31, 2019 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Jackson, MS to parents Charles and Jo (Meux) Perry. George graduated from GWHS in 1972 where he excelled in football, earning a 4-year scholarship to the University of Richmond. Upon receiving a Business Degree from Richmond, George joined his father at Sherwood House Furniture of Danville where he worked for the next 44 years. Additionally, George was an avid golfer and a long time supporter of the Danville Golf Club, serving several times as a member of the board.    George is survived by his wife Marti Perry; his daughter Jaime McFadden, a son Trey McFadden and his wife Jamie; two grandchildren Madelyn and Dane; brother Charles Perry and his wife Peggy; two nieces, Catherine Perry Sibley and Margaret Nuckols and her husband Ben.    A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, August 5, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Danville. The family will be available from 12:30pm to visit with guests at the church. A private burial will be held at a later date.    In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mr. Perry’s memory can be made to the Navy SEAL Foundation (www.navysealfoundation.org).
