George Evans

December 23, 1945 — April 25, 2017

Mr. George Perry Evans, Sr., age 71 of Danville passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.                George was born in Danville on December 23, 1945 a son of William Easley Evans and Lillian Tate Evans.  He was a graduate of George Washington High School, worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.  He attended Blessed Hope Baptist Church.                On March 28, 1980 he married Patricia Smith Evans who survives of the home.  George was a wonderful husband and a loving father.                Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and a daughter; George P. Evans, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Richmond, Roman C. Evans and his wife Julie of Johnson City, TN and Sarah Evans Miller of Danville, brother, William E. Evans, Jr. of Danville and a sister, Norma Haymore Smith of Providence, NC.                George also leaves three grandchildren; Roman C. Evans, Jr., Hayli Evans and Peter Evan Miller.                In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to made to The Nazarene Fund, P. O. Box 140489, Irving, TX  75039.                Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Brian Edwards officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.                The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Friday, April 28, 2107 from 1 to 2 P.M.                Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Evans family.
