At the young age of 68, Gayle Annette Walker passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia on May 5, 2021. She was born in Danville, Virginia at the same hospital on January 17, 1953 to the late Leroy Walker and Gaynell Linden Williams Walker. Gayle Annette graduated from George Washington High School in 1972. She attended Stratford College and Danville Community College. At the time of her death she was retired from retail and mental health services. Survived by her son, Matthew Blake Walker (Christy) of Danville, Virginia; her sisters, Vicky Walker Aherron (Mike), Terry Walker Riggins, Ginger Sellers (sister by heart) of Danville, Virginia; and her grandchildren, Tyler Walker, Miranda Moore, Lexi and Trey Wertz. She had a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, of which she loved just like her own. A special relative in Gayle Annette’s life was her aunt Annie Mae (Fuzzy) Williams Davis. She had many special friends who loved her, two very near and dear were Judy Barham and Carol Whitlow. She loved her faithful companion, Annabelle, who was always by her side. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Danny Ray Walker. Gayle Annette’s main role in life was being a mother and a grandmother. She loved to go to yard sales with her grandson, Tyler. At one time, she owned and operated Peter Rabbit’s Daycare. She loved and cared for many children from her convenience markets. In her younger years, she coached and played softball for Sav-Time Bad News Bears. She was an avid fisherman and loved being at the ocean. To sum up Gayle Annette’s life, she was a talented, big-hearted dreamer. A Celebration of Gayle Annette’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 9 at Ginger Sellers’ farm, 2129 Ringgold Church Road, Ringgold, Virginia. The celebration will be held outside. Please bring your own chair and dress casually. Light refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Danville Humane Society.
