Frances Dean Luther Morgan died on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:03 AM at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Mrs. Morgan was born April 1, 1922 in Danville. She was the daughter of the late Annie McCubbins Luther and Hobart McKinley Luther. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1940. She was married on January 21, 1942 to the late Lt. Col. James P. Morgan. With her husband she was co-owner of the former Refrigerator Service Co., Inc. She was also a secretary and book keeper in Danville and Arlington, VA. Mrs. Morgan was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a former member of the Danville Historical Society, a charter member of the Danville Art League, and a former member of Credit Women's Club. She is survived by her daughter Bonne Morgan Mahler and her husband George L. Mahler of Amelia Court House, VA, her son the Reverend James P. Morgan and his wife Mary Dale of Columbia, SC, two grandchildren, Jonathan P. Mahler (Pam) and Leah Mahler Bowles (Kevin), and three step-grandchildren, Joshua Kean, Brandon Kean, and Sarah Kean Hall (Daniel). Graveside funeral services will be held at Green Hill Cemetery on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Free Clinic of Danville or to the charity of your choice.
