Frances Smith Doss Mrs. Frances Smith Doss of 224 Courtland Street died on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Danville Regional Medical Center where she had been a patient for the past week. Mrs. Doss was born in South Boston on October 22, 1918, a daughter of the late Thomas Washington Smith and Pearl Hazelwood Smith. Mrs. Doss was married to the late Jesse Howard Doss who died April 4, 1984. Besides her husband and her parents Mrs. Doss was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Hicks and brothers and sisters, John Smith, Sandy Smith, Thomas Smith, Pearl Motley and Mildred Talley. She was a life long member of Lee Street Baptist Church which later became College Park Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters; Becky Doss and her husband Billy of Danville, Barbara Jean (BJ) Hamlett of Danville, son, Richard Doss and his wife Lucille of Greer, SC, step-daughter, Liz Taylor of Ocala, FL, half-brother, Clarence Evans of Danville and half-sister, Jean Boswell of Yanceyville, NC. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 2 P.M. from College Park Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. "CAM" McIntire and the Reverend Archer McIntire officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston, VA. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 7 to 8:30 P. M. and at other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Billy Doss, 311 Sandy River Drive, Fox Hollow Farms. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 W. Main Street is serving the Doss family.
