Florence Loraine Westbrook

Florence Loraine Westbrook, 92, of Danville, VA, passed away on January 25, 2025.

Florence was born on April 4, 1932, in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Ernest Edward Westbrook and Mary Laila Jones Westbrook. She graduated from George Washington High School and worked in inventory control at Dan River Mills. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir since she was 17 and taught Sunday school from children to adults. She was an avid bridge player and a bowler. She loved travel and music. 

Florence is survived by her sister, Faye Westbrook, nieces and nephews, Nora Torres (A.J.), Bruce L. Westbrook, Jr. (Sue), Jon Westbrook (Kim), Cheryl Steinbok, Amanda Westbrooke, George Westbrooke (Beth), and Debbie Morse (Dan).

In addition to her parents, Florence is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Ernest Westbrook, Ramona Westbrook, Gloria Turner, Bruce Westbrook, Sr., Kenneth Westbrooke, a niece, Mary Johnson, and a lifelong friend and soulmate Charles Blackstock.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Townes Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Tucker officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. 

The family would like to thank Reata Hamilton, friend and sitter for five years of loving care and to the Amedisys Hospice Team, Karina, Mark, Stephanie, and Chaplain Troy for their wonderful care of Florence.
