Fallon Goodson

Fallon Burton “Burt” Goodson, Sr., 92, passed into the arms of his Savior on Monday, November 27, 2017 at his home in Danville, VA.     He was born on January 1, 1925 in Caswell County, NC to the late Fallon Barksdale Goodson, and the late Hattie Walker Goodson.      Early in his life, Burt became a Christian and filled many capacities in churches throughout his life.  He served the Lord whole-heartedly as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and in other ministries. Burt served in the Navy Seabees from 1943-1946 during World War II. He started as a Seaman and finished as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked for Monroe Systems for Business for 42 years, ending his career as a Branch Manager in Lexington, Kentucky.     He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elouise Pearce Goodson of Danville, VA; two children Sarah Goodson Melton, and husband Randy, of Danville; and Fallon B. Goodson, Jr., and wife Nancy, of Conway, SC; two grandchildren Christopher Melton and Shannon Melton, of Danville, VA; a sister, Gwendolyn Goodson Powell Jeffreys, of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.     He was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Goodson Royal of Durham, NC.     A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Danville, 871 Main Street Danville, VA 24541. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Baynes Baptist Church Cemetery, 1757 Baynes Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
