Evelyn “Evie” Reynolds, most affectionately known as “Nannie” to all, passed to her heavenly home on April 3, 2023.
Evie was born on October 8, 1931, to the late Ida Sumlin Hardy and Jesse Howard Hardy, Sr. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church. She worked for Dan River Mills prior to her marriage to the late J. Curtis Reynolds. Her real passion was her volunteer work. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History as well as Danville Regional Hospital where she tried to brighten her patients stay.
Evie was the last surviving of five siblings. She was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie Thompson and Ethel Powers, and two brothers, Jesse Howard Hardy, Jr. and Raymond Thomas Hardy. She was also predeceased by her two children, Roderick W. Holley and Mary Jane Holley Deboe, as well as a great-grandchild, Madelyn “Maddie” Davis.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Netti Holley, and four granddaughters, Mary Lee Sampson, Beverly Rembold, Kathy Davis (Jake), and Katie Roberts (Jesse). Evie was also survived by five great-grandchildren, Lydia Davis, Zachary Jones, Cole Rembold, Zoe Jane Thompson, and Kaden Kiser.
Nannie lived life to the fullest. She was an experienced world traveler and loved to teach her granddaughters little life lessons every chance she got.
Her family will be celebrating her “sassy” life on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Mt. View Cemetery with Pastor Steve Carlton officiating. A visitation will be held the night prior from 6:00-7:30 PM at Townes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, 1026 N Main Street, Danville, VA.
