Eunice Foster

February 10, 1922 — April 17, 2014

Eunice Dunn Foster, 91, went to be with her Lord on April 17, 2014. She had been a resident of Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville, VA, since October 2009. She was born on October 2, 1922, the daughter of Elizabeth Barker Dunn and Lester McKinley Dunn. She lived her entire life in the Ringgold community of Pittsylvania County where she graduated from Dan River High School in 1940. On October 3, 1942, she married Abner Wilson Foster, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2007. She is known by all who knew her as loving, kind, and gentle. She was an excellent cook and shared many meals with her family. Eunice has been a member of Ringgold Baptist Church since a very young girl. At her church, she served in numerous roles, including many years as a children's Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and WMU member. She was a homemaker and also worked at Dan River Mills. She is survived by two sons who live in Ringgold, Virginia: David Foster and wife Betty Jo, and John Foster and wife Diane. She is also survived by four grandchildren (all of Ringgold, Virginia): Brian Foster, Tracey Foster Ewing and husband Lee, Matthew Foster, and Ben Foster. She has two great-grandchildren, Anna Ewing and Luke Ewing. Eunice is also survived by two sisters: Dora Dunn of Ringgold, Virginia, and Margaret Dunn Ford of Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 3 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home by the Reverend Carl Burger. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens on 58 West in Danville. The family will also receive family and friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law (David and Betty Jo Foster) at 1388 Rocksprings Road, Ringgold, Virginia. The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff on the Northeast wing of Roman Eagle Memorial Home for their excellent care and concern for their loved one during her time there.
