Mr. Eugene Thomas (Tommy) Sours of 426 Mimosa Street died Friday, May 7, 2021 at Martinsville Health and Rehabilitation after a decline in health. Mr. Sours was born in Chatham on February 28, 1939, a son of the late Bernard Hall Sours and Gertrude Inman Sours. Mr. Sours was a member of the Holland Road Baptist Church. He was retired as a golf course superintendent and had served in the Virginia Army National Guard. Mr. Sours loved baseball, traveling and attended baseball games for 26 years. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his siblings; Sarah Sours Reynolds, Helen Bradner, Gaynelle Sours Hey and James Bennett Sours. Mr. Sours is survived by his wife of the home, LaVonne Jones Sours, one sister, Mildred Collins and one brother, Joseph Clinton Sours. Also surviving are his special fur family, Bubble and Pumpkin. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. from the graveside at Mountain View Cemetery with the Reverend James Mayes officiating. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 12 noon until 1:30 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence, 426 Mimosa Street.
