Esther Rippe

Esther C. Rippe passed away Monday morning, April 9, 2018.  Born in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of Samuel and Jenny Reznir Costin and sister to five older siblings.    She graduated from the University of Louisville, and then taught elementary school.  She met Buddy (Murray) Rippe while he was stationed in Kentucky.  They married on August 15, 1943 and moved to Danville in 1946.  She helped operate a business, Rippe’s women’s apparel and raised their children. She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom   In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and siblings.   Esther is survived by her children Ben Rippe (Deborah), Allen Rippe, Carol Anne Gordon, also known as Grace (Julius); grandchildren Sonia (Josh), Max, Sam and devoted nieces, nephews and grandnieces.    A graveside service, conducted by Para Rabbinic JoAnn Howard will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM, at Green Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service at her home, 242 Parkview Place.     Esther was a breast cancer survivor.
