Erma Hazel Davis Cole, formerly of 1779 South Boston Road died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. She had been a patient since 2006 when her health started to fail. Mrs. Cole was born January 11, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, VA in the Laurel Grove Community to the late Herbert Coleman Davis and Bertha Lewis Davis. Mrs. Cole was married to the late John Letcher Cole. She spent most of her life in the Laurel Grove and Sutherlin areas except for a few years of her early marriage in the Norfolk area. She was a graduate of Dan River High School in 1939. She was a Mother and Homemaker. Mrs. Cole was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church for many years until her health began to fail. Besides her husband she is predeceased by two brothers, a son-in-law and two dear sons, John "Dave" Davis Cole and Herbert Tucker Cole. She is survived by daughters; Jackie Cole Soyars and Jean C. Adams and her husband Terry Adams, two granddaughters, Terri Ann Adams and Amy A. Nash and her husband Donnie. Also surviving are a special grandson, Bryan Gibson and his wife Tara, their children, Cole and Mayzee. She also leaves two step- granddaughters and two step-great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2 P.M. from the Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Averette Witcher and the Reverend Carl Burger officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 1 to 2 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Jackie Cole Soyars, 204 Brentwood Drive. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Cole family.
