There is another angel in heaven today. Elsie of Danville left this earth to be with her Lord in heaven on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Elsie was born in Halifax County, VA on August 5, 1933 to Thomas Hobson Loftis and Jimmie Osborne Loftis. She was a graduate of Turbeville High School. Elsie married Thomas Walton Carter on May 21, 1955 who survives of the home. They have two children, JoAnn Demarcus (Lucion) and Jeff Carter (Linda), four grandchildren; Brad Demarcus (Erin), Jamie Whitlow (Derek), Michael Carter and Sabrina Carter and five great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by brothers, Carlton Loftis and Keith Loftis, sisters, Edith Childress and Margaret Cole. Elsie was a charter member of Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church and had retired from EDS. She loved working in the yard with flowers and loved sewing as well. Most of all Elsie enjoyed shopping. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Susan Hannah officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 and at other times will be at the residence, 209 Preston Place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation-VA Chapter, 2201 W. Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220 or Alzheimer’s Association of Danville-Pittsylvania County, 308 Craghead Street, Danville, VA 24541. The family would like to thank the staff of Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Center for their help. Also the staff and doctors who attended to Elsie at the hospital.
