Elizabeth Temple Wilson died on April 28, 2023. Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brooke Temple, and the wife of the late Mr. Lawrence Girard Wilson, Jr. Mr. Wilson died October 25, 2014.
Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of Stratford Hall, in Danville, Virginia, and St. Mary’s College, in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a long standing member of Main Street United Methodist Church until its closing, and from there, went back to the First Presbyterian Church where she had attended in previous years. Mrs. Wilson was very active in both churches for many years, in many different capacities.
Mrs. Wilson was a long standing member of the Garden Club of Danville and The Wednesday Club. She also loved singing with the Heartstrings of Danville.
An avid bridge player for many years, she thoroughly enjoyed the game with friends. Betzy also enjoyed needlepoint, creating beautiful pictures, pillows, and maps, but she especially enjoyed creating needlepoint kneelers for many local churches.
Mrs. Wilson was the mother of three daughters. Elizabeth Wilson Walden (Keith), Mary Temple Wilson Mullis, and Rebecca Wilson Moore (Chris). She loved her daughters deeply. She is also the grandmother to seven grandchildren. Robert Benjamin Mullis II, Temple Mullis Varno, Clifton Keith Walden Jr, Lawrence Wilson Walden, Elizabeth Carpenter Walden, and Rebecca Brooke Atkinson. She also had eight great grandchildren. She loved them with all of her heart. Betsy is survived by her brother, Charles Brooke Temple, Jr. (Susan) and his children.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2 PM in Mountain View Cemetery with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Danville Life Saving Crew or the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 234 Magnolia Drive, on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
