Elizabeth Bekerian Tate, wife of the late Reverend Joel C. Tate, Jr., passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016 in Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 18, 1921 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Peter and Agnes Bekerian. She graduated from Lawrence High School Class of 1939. She served in the United States Air Force for 5 years and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 2912, Wheatly Heights, NY, a charter member of the Womens’ Memorial, Washington, DC and a member of the Friends of the Library in Yanceyville, NC. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Alice B. Newell and Lucy Bekerian. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth T. Everett and husband, Daniel; grandsons, Matthew Daniel Everett and his wife Amy, and Andrew Carrington Everett; a niece, Lt. Col. Retired Army Donna J. Harlow and husband, Major Retired Army Robert Harlow; nephew, Robert Newell, Jr. and wife Patricia; and several additional nieces and nephews. As the Apostle Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Well done good and faithful servant.” Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11 am at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with the Reverend Becky Crites officiating. Burial will be private.
