Eleanor Hawkins, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 19, 2015 at her residence, after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Dorrier. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Roy K. Hawkins; her brothers Earl, John, Andrew and Paul Dorrier; and sisters Marion Vaughan and Dolly Dollins. She is survived by her two children Robert K. Hawkins (Aloma) and Brenda Hawkins; and her nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Lane High School, Charlottesville, Virginia. After moving from Charlottesville to Florida in 1953, the family returned to Danville in 1961 to be closer to their families. Eleanor worked for American National Bank Trust Department and the Finance Department of the City of Danville. She retired from the city with 20 years of service. She was a devoted wife and mother who put her family first. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing and helping others. She was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM, at Highland Burial Park by the Reverend Brian Martin of Christ the King Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends at the residence following the service. The family suggests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice. Townes Funeral Home is serving the Hawkins family.
