Eleanor Douglas

Eleanor Harris Douglas, 92, passed away September 26, 2017, at her home, 900 Green Street, Danville. Virginia. She was the daughter of O.B. and Pattie Glidewell Harris. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also loved her many pets. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Hilton Thomas Douglas, and numerous sisters and brothers. She is survived by her daughters: Joan D. Mills of Raleigh, NC; Sylvia D. Stewart (William Patrick) of Staunton, VA; Laura D. Meder (Frederick Jr.) of Danville; grandchildren: Andrew Mills, Raleigh; Todd Stewart (Nina) Staunton; Zach Stewart (Alexandra) Waynesboro, Trae Meder, Howell, NJ; Anna Millican, Shepherdstown, WVA; great-grandchildren: Nick Corey, Gunnar Stewart, and Karlie Stewart. Also surviving are her sisters Ann Witcher and Barbara Moorefield of Danville, and brother Windol Harris of Orlando, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her faithful and loving friends Barbara Martin, Kelly Brown, Sheena Powell, Ariel Hicks, Thelma Robertson, Tina Harris, and Sharon Jones. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with the Reverend John Carroll of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment for the family will be at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation be made to First Baptist Church, 871 Main Street, Danville, VA 24541, where she was a member. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Douglas family.
