Mary Eleanor Packer Hoskins Bogart, 4180 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 5, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born November 28, 1923 in Sunbury, PA, the daughter of the late William D. Packer, Sr. and Gertrude Weaver Packer. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Kaye Huecker (Philip W.) of Sidney, Ohio and Pamela H. Boor of Dry Fork, Virginia, and one step-son, Raymond A. Hoskins, Jr. (Margie), of Reidsville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William D. Packer and David A. Packer and two sons, David G. Hoskins, Sr. and William Joseph Hoskins. She was married to Raymond A. Hoskins of Danville, Virginia who died on February 2, 1961. She was later married to her high school sweetheart, Albert W. (“Sparky”) Bogart who died on June 10, 2010. Eleanor is survived by 12 grandchildren Sandy Hall Isom, Michael Shane Hall, Kristi Howard Ross, Kati Howard Hall, David Hoskins, Jr., Rebekah Hoskins, Allison Hoskins, Rachel Hoskins, Sarah Hoskins, Daniel Hoskins, Terina Walter Kreitzer and Cindy Walter, 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Eleanor graduated from Sunbury High School in Sunbury, Pennsylvania in the class of 1941. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Danville, Virginia and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Northumberland, Pennsylvania. At Christ Episcopal Church, Eleanor served as Treasurer to the Women of the Church and made the weekly church programs for many years as well as serving on the Vestry and Altar Guild. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Sunbury and Danville, Virginia and also served on the board of the American Red Cross and United Fund of Central Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. Before retiring, she worked in the C.P.A. firms of Boor, Howard & Co. of Danville Virginia and Fisher, Clark & Lauer of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. Eleanor was a wonderful mother, grandmother (belovedly known as “Nanny”) and great grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. Her family meant the world to her and she meant the world to her family. When she wasn’t spending time with her family visiting and playing cards, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and chocolates. A memorial service and celebration of Nanny’s life and love will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at a date to be determined after inside church services safely resume. A graveside service will also be held at a later date in Shamokin Dam, PA where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Sparky. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Danville, VA or St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Northumberland, PA or Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer awareness.
