Edwin Parrish

Mr. Edwin Boyd Parrish, age 70, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, NC after a brief illness. Ed was born in Danville on November 20, 1942, a son of the late Ruth Ann Boyd Parrish and James Howard Parrish, Sr. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid historian whose interests included Danville history, military history and family history. Ed was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a graduate of George Washington High School and was retired from Miller Brewing Company. Ed is survived by his wife of the home; Brenda Johnson Parrish, two sons, Clark Edwin Parrish and Taylor Boyd Parrish and his wife Katherine, two grandchildren, Alyssa and Gavin Parrish all of Danville. Also surviving are his brothers and sister; James H. Parrish, Jr., of Charlotte, NC, H. Michael Parrish of Danville, Marc H. Parrish of Danville and Helen P. Hardy of Richmond. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Susan Hannah, pastor at Whitmell and Saint John's United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main Street on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence, 224 James Road in the Oak Hills Community.
