He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny DeMars, his parents, Edmond A. and Beatrice Mae DeMars, his brothers, Gary and Ricky. He is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Margie; daughters, Kim Richards and husband Bob of Granby CT, Tammy DeMars Felker of Charleston SC and Jackie Phillips and husband, Mike, of Mount Pleasant, SC; sons, Will Conroy and wife, Lori, of South Hadley MA, Joe Conroy of Westfield MA, and Bob DeMars of Holyoke, MA; sisters, Carol Dixon of Ormond Beach FL and Judy Wyzik and her husband John, of Suffield, CT; and grandchildren, Rob, John, Marissa, Nick, Jessie, Maggie, Matt, Kate and Haley. After serving his Country in the US Navy during the Bay of Pigs and Vietnam era, he worked over 32 years for AT&T and its subsidiaries.
For Eddie, life was always about making memories. His paternal grandparents built the DeMars Chapel within the Methodist Church in East Hartford, CT with a plaque commemorating the event, “The Best Things in Life are Memories”. His family moved to Granby, CT when Eddie was 6 years old, 15 years in Southwick, MA, 23 years in Fairfield Glade, TN, and 3 years in Danville… he had the opportunity of making many memories. The children and family members were of utmost importance. Money was of no significance. You can say honestly, “Time, Talents & Treasure” was for everyone. He was always quick with a joke and enjoyed golfing with family and friends. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Eddie will be sorely missed, but the special memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
