We celebrate the life of Earl Melvin "Billy" Worsham, who went to his heavenly home on October 24, 2019. Billy was born in Pittsylvania County on December 30, 1931, son of the late Zebedee Worsham and Lottie Shelton Worsham. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Allred Worsham; Three children, Billy Gregory Worsham of Danville, Kenneth Wayne Worsham (wife - Marilyn) of Gretna, deceased son - Earl Melvin Worsham II. Five grandchildren and Eight great grand children. His sister Hilda W. Parker of Cascade, deceased sisters - Dorothy W. McCoy & Pearline W. Shelton, deceased brothers - Odell L. Worsham, Zebedee Worsham Jr, & Martin A. Worsham. He faithfully served his country in the armed forces and was assigned to the Army in 1950, he was stationed in Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, deployed to Korea where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He will be missed by his beagle puppy "Cookie."Mr. Worsham was retired from Goodyear after 29 years in the Curing Department. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 6 to 7:30 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence, 320 Meadowview Drive. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Jim Curran officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors presented by the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard.
