Earl Waymoth Willis was born on November 6, 1929, and died May 18, 2023. He was the son of William Earl Willis and Agnes Shelton Willis. He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Annie Laurie Motley. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Earl attended Danville Public Schools and graduated from Schoolfield High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1955.
He married Annie Laurie Motley, on June 14, 1952, and was married for 67 years. He worked for the City of Danville from 1962 until retirement in 1992. He was known in the Danville area for the many Brunswick Stews he cooked for organizations, family, and friends for over 60 years.
Earl is survived by two sons, William B. Willis, and wife Clover, and Sid H. Willis, and wife Karen; three grandchildren, Shannon Willis Edwards, Andrea Willis Fleming, and Jacob Fletcher Willis; four great grandchildren, Savannah Grace Edwards, Jackson Robert Willis, Camdyn Reed Fleming, Lexington Kate Willis; one cousin, Gwen Warren, of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 3 PM at Townes Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Bray officiating. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park with military honors conducted by the US Air Force. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
