Dorothy Stone

August 17, 1932 — September 21, 2018

Dorothy (Dot) Moon Stone, 86, went to be with her Lord on September 21, 2018.       Dot was born August 17, 1932 and lived her entire life in Danville.  She was the daughter of the late Ernest W. Moon and Bee Patterson Moon.       Dot lived with her dear friend, Lois Allen, until Lois's passing and Dot remained close to her family in the years hence.  Dot retired from Dan River, Inc. after 43 years as an executive secretary.  She also belonged for over forty years to the American Businesswomen's Association.  Dot was known for her love of photography, music, sports, traveling and many other hobbies.         She is survived by her sister, Frances M. Hardy and her niece, Beverly H. McQuarry, great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as cousins.  She was preceded in death by her niece, Marcia H. Craddock and her brother-in-law, Rev. O.R. Hardy.       A visitation will be held at West Main Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church with Reverend Gary Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.         Memorial contributions may be made to West Main Baptist Church, 450 W. Main Street, Danville, VA 24541 or to the charity of one’s choice.
