Dorothy “Dot” Grogan Richardson, 87, formerly of Summit Road, passed away Saturday evening, December 16, 2017 in Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on August 3, 1930 in Danville, Va. a daughter of the late Vester Giles Grogan and Florence Inge Grogan. Dot was a graduate of Schoolfield High School and had served on the school reunion committee. She was employed with Schoolfield Bank (later First Virginia Bank and currently BB&T) for 41 years until her retirement. She was a member of Schoolfield Baptist Church and was a former member of the choir. She also had served as a volunteer at Danville Regional Medical Center. Dot was married to William Edward “Ned” Richardson who passed away on September 12, 2004. She was also predeceased by a brother, Jerry Grogan. She is survived by her aunt, Frances Inge Hardy; her uncle, Woodrow Inge; her sister-in-law, Vernie Grogan; and a number of cousins including Cheryl Hall (Lee) and Deborah Stowe (Donnie); and a special friend, David “Hutch” Hutcheson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 2 pm at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend David Turbyfill officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm and at other times will be at the residence of Cheryl and Lee Hall, 152 Clarendon Circle.
