Dorothy Collie Plott, age 97 died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Halifax County, VA; she was the daughter of the late John Spencer Collie and Nettie Hendricks Collie. On August 1, 1939 she married the late Thomas Julian Plott, Her husband of 65 years. She was a retired registered nurse, graduating from the former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Danville, VA. She was a member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Susanna Wesley Class and United Methodist Women. She was a Past Matron of Kaufman-Brydon Chapter #87, Order of Eastern Star, Past President of Memorial Hospital Retirees Club. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by six brothers; Jack Willie, Eugene, Earl, Richard and Taylor Collie and five sisters her infant twin sister: Doris E. Collie, Mary Sue Collie, Viola C. Brandon, Anna C. Avera, and Louise C. Murray. Throughout her life she provided love, care, assistance and understanding to those who came in contact with her. Mrs. Plott was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, godmother, friend and always a proper lady. She is survived by her three godchildren and their families; Joyce Y. Greenwood and husband Foy, Al Greenwood and wife Charissa, and their children, Riley and Emma Greenwood all of Chesapeake, VA. Jane B. Sisemore and her husband Carl and their children, Sara, Seth, Hosea, and Josiah Sisemore of King George, VA. One sister, Norma C. Hazzard of Richmond, VA and many special nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank two special friends, Barbara Coleman and Betsy Hall for all the love and care they have given to Mrs. Plott the past two and half years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Lisa Nordan officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church, 601 Berryman Avenue, Danville, VA 24541. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Plott family.
