Dorothy Carter

Dorothy (Buck) Clark Carter of 100 Summit Road passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health. Mrs. Carter was born in Danville on September 4, 1922, a daughter of the late Ernest Wright Clark, Sr. and Sue Talley Clark. She was married to the late Frank H. Carter who died in February of 1989. Besides her parents and husband Buck was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Wright Clark, Jr. Buck was a member of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church and was a graduate of George Washington High School. She spent her entire life in Danville and was employed with Dan River, Inc. after 42 years of service and retired in 1985. She had many sources of inspiration, guidance and friendship that contributed to her loving spirit. Buck is survived by a special god child, Anne Atkins of Florida, sister-in-law, Jean Swicegood and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday October, 9, 2015 at 1 PM from the graveside at Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Lewis Harris officiating, former pastor at Woodberry Hills Baptist Church. At the request of Buck she has asked that memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at the residence, 100 Summit Road. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Carter family.
