Doris Henderson

Doris Tate Henderson Doris Henderson, wife of the late Clarence “Punk” Henderson, passed away peacefully on November 6 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. Born on February 20, 1933 in Montgomery County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Gleon and Vera Todd Vuncannon. Doris was a dedicated Christian lady, a faithful member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and a member and officer of the American Business Women’s Association. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her sister Joyce, one son, Marc Henderson and nephew, Bunky Vuncannon. Surviving are her children, Kathy Milley (Steve) of Richmond, VA, Diane Gooding (Stan) of West Columbia, SC, Russell Henderson (Maureen) of Garden Grove, CA; Carlton Henderson (Karen) of Danville, VA and grandchildren Greyson Surges (Mariana) of Bury St. Edmonds, UK, Stephanie Davis (Shawn) of Murrieta, CA and Jeff Henderson of Chicago, IL and nephews Ronald Vuncannon of Altavista, VA, Todd Brown (Robin) of Dry Fork, VA and Ryland Henderson (Kim) of Danville, VA.  Also surviving are one brother, Adison Vuncannon (Margie). The family would like to express their gratitude for the support, love and kindness shown by the staff at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.  Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, November 8 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Reverend Susan Hannah officiating.  Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. Visitation will be held at St. Luke’s one hour prior to the service from 1 – 2 pm.
