Donald Irvin Pratt, 97, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his residence in Martinsville, VA. He was born in Horsepasture, VA on February 14, 1920, a son of the late George Cabell Pratt and Alice Coleman Pratt. He attended Virginia Tech for two years before entering the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. He served as a chief flight mechanic in the US Army Air Corp 454 Bomber Squadron and was stationed in England and France. Following the war, he married the former Lorraine Via and they resided in Danville. Donald was involved in commercial real estate and was a former member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, Tuscarora Country Club, and the Danville Golf Club. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Broad Street Christian Church. His wife Lorraine passed away on December 13, 1986. He later married the former Ellen Ann Davis Petersen of Martinsville, who passed away in 2016 Donald was also predeceased by a brother, Oswald Pratt and a sister, Amorette Law. He is survived by three sons, Donald I. Pratt, Jr. and his wife, Geri of Williamsburg, VA, Edward G. Pratt of San Antonia, TX, and Michael V. Pratt and his wife, Peggy of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Benjamin D. Pratt and his wife, Chiyo, of Tokyo, Jonathan B. Pratt and his wife, Jennifer of Phoenix, Arizona, Claire E. Pratt of San Antonio, TX, and Sydney L. Pratt of Charleston, SC; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Pratt, Tyler Pratt and Sabrina Pratt; and two stepsons, Phil Davis and his wife, Lisa of Flower Mound, TX and Tim Davis and his wife, Tara of Martinsville, VA Graveside service, with Full Military Honors, will be held Friday, September 15, 2017, at 2:00 PM in Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Mark Parkinson officiating.
