Donald Dodson

Donald Eugene Dodson, 62, of 854 Mountain Hill Rd., Ringgold, VA, went Home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Duke Hospice, Hock Family Pavilion, after a decline in health for the past few years. Mr. Dodson was born on August 5, 1959, in Danville, VA, a son of Jack Dalton Dodson and Elizabeth Annette Compton Dodson. He lived all of his life in the Danville area where he graduated from Dan River High School. He was retired from the City of Danville where he worked as a groundskeeper for over 38 years. He was a member of Central Boulevard Church of God. He was an avid professional wrestling fan. He was married to Sheila Adkins Dodson, who survives of the residence. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by a son, John Dodson (fiancée, Erica Jones); two sisters, Cindy Dodson and Lynda Dodson Byrd (Danny Allen); mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Adkins, sister-in-law, Sharon Simms (Walter); two nephews, Jonathen Byrd and Matthew Hood; and three nieces, Crystal Byrd, Megan Williams (JP), and Faith Crews (Alex). He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Erma Dodson; maternal grandparents, Edward Compton and Frances Demarcus, and her husband Eugene Demarcus; and his father-in-law, Stanley Adkins. The funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Central Boulevard Church of God with Pastor John Meadows, Reverend Walter Simms, and Dr. Jerry Foley officiating. Interment will follow the service in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday night, at the church, from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times will be at the residence of his mother-in-law, 818 Mountain Hill Road, Ringgold, VA.
