Donald Cairns

March 19, 1943 — November 30, 2023

Dr. Donald G. Cairns passed away on November 30,2023 at his home in Danville.

Don was born in Englewood, N.J to the late Clifford M. Cairns & Jessie W. Cairns

He graduated from Lycoming College where he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry & biology.
To fulfill his goal of being a, he entered Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dentistry. Upon graduation he was commissioned as a Lt. in the USN. His duty stations included Quantico, Naval Station Norfolk, USS Ponce, Bethesda, USS Piedmont, Okinawa, Japan, & Great Lakes, IL. His favorite duty station was The U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis. lt was during his time serving on the dental staff at Annapolis, he met his future wife, Pattie. Thankfully, a mutual friend had set Don & Pattie up on a blind date.

On December 10, 1977, they were married at Main Street UMC in Danville. This union lasted almost 46 years.
Don loved dentistry as he practiced for over 50 years. He loved his patients and most of all his "990Crew".
Music, reading, photography, & painting were his favorite past times. He sang in the Aldersgate Choir at Mt. Vernon UMC where he was a member. He also sang with DACAS. Don was a lifetime member of ADA & was a Fellow in the AGD and was former member the Kiwanis Club, German Club, & Danville Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife Pattie, sister Arlene Cairns, his niece & godchild Cailin Przybylski, and nephews Jarrett Przybylski & Travis Przybylski and his fur-babies Luke & Abby.

A celebration of life will be held December 10, 2023, at 2pm at Mt. Vernon UMC.
