Debra Stambaugh, 52, of Danville passed away on Sunday, August 31, at Danville Regional Medical Center after an extended battle with cancer. Ms. Stambaugh was born on June 5, 1962 in Danville. She graduated in 1980 from Danville Christian School. She then entered The Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and graduated from the program in 1982. She worked as a Radiologic Technologist at Danville Memorial Hospital as well as the Gessler Clinic in Winter Haven, FL, until illness forced her to leave the work place in 2011. Ms. Stambaugh was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty Philpott. She is survived by her sister, Sandi Hauenstein (Steve) of Drayden, MD and one nephew, Marc. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends and neighbors. She enjoyed reading, shopping and following NASCAR races. She was devoted to her beloved dog, Scamp, who was a true companion to her. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5 from 7-8 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Highland Burial Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, with the Rev. Hershel Stone officiating.
