David Claude Meyer, 58, of 119 Winthrop Drive, Danville, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, due to a recent decline in health.
He was born on April 27, 1964, in Danville, VA, to the late Norma H. Meyer of Danville and William F. Meyer, Jr. of Blackstone, VA. He graduated with honors from George Washington High School and was a graduate of Hampden Sidney College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He worked as a microbiologist at Nestle while at the same time was Owner/Operator of World of Pets with his brother Billy for 25 years.
He lived his life in Danville, VA.
He is survived by his two sons, David “Davey” Avery Meyer and William ‘Will” Marion Meyer of Danville, VA. His oldest son Davey wanted all to know that he was the best dad in the whole wide world.
In addition to his sons and father, he is survived by his brother, Billy Meyer and wife Sandra of Dry Fork, and his brother Rick Roveta of Dry Fork and his special cat, “Fluffy.”
He was a lifetime member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church until its closing and since has been attending White Oak Worship Center.
A memorial service will be held at Townes Funeral Home Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM with friend and minister Donald Fouts officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM
The family will begin receiving friends at the residence Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to your favorite animal rescue or the Danville Heart Association.
