David Leslie Adams, 72, of Danville, Virginia is now absent from the body and present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). This we know because he accepted the gift of salvation from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (1 John 5:13). He met his appointment with death through the progression of Parkinson’s Disease and went to his eternal home on February 4, 2024, at the residence.
David Leslie Adams was born October 3, 1951, in Danville, Virginia to the late Raymond Hugh Adams and late Hunter Terry Adams. He was also predeceased by his older brother Dexter Hugh Adams.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 50 years, Donna Carter Adams, of the residence. He is also survived by two sons, two sons-in-law, two daughters, two daughters-in-law, and eight grandchildren: (Son) Les Adams and his wife Melanie and their sons Roger and Garrett of Chatham, Virginia; (Son) Duane Adams and his wife Tiffany and their daughter Nora of Cascade, Virginia; (Daughter) Sharon Adams Wygal and her husband Chris and their children Evelyn, Julie Anne, and Matthew of Amelia, Virginia; and (Daughter) Darci Adams Hendrickson and her husband Noel and their children Clara and Grant of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
David grew up in Java, Virginia on a tobacco farm where he had fond memories with his surviving first cousins, Tim Adkins, Theresa Adams, and Wanda Marks. He was a graduate of Chatham High School and continued his education at Virginia Tech graduating with a Bachelor degree in Agriculture. He was a hard worker and worked in various agriculture careers throughout his life, first teaching agriculture at Tunstall High School, then selling farm equipment at Wimmer and Wimmer, later farming and managing farms, finishing his career selling auto and crop insurance.
In addition to being a devoted and loving husband and father, David Adams was also a dear friend to many, and is remembered for his generosity, faithfulness, and good sense of humor. He leaves behind his church family at The Tabernacle, where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
Please join the remembrance of his life with visitation at The Tabernacle, Danville, Virginia on Friday, February 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and the funeral service at The Tabernacle, on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 pm followed by a Christian burial at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, Virginia. After the burial all are invited back to the Tabernacle Fellowship Hall at 5:00pm for a reception sharing memories of David Leslie Adams. Public viewing is available at Townes Funeral Home, Danville, Virginia, on Thursday, February 8 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Friday, February 9, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
