Dan Coleman Dan Coleman went to be with the Lord November 2, 2012, after several months of declining health. Dan was born in Elkorn City, Kentucky, to Mary Lynn Looney, and Miles Coleman. Dan worked in the coal mines of Kentucky for 20 years before moving to Danville in 1965. He worked in Dan River Mills, and then Good Year Tire where he retired after 20 years of service. Dan was of the Christian faith and was baptized in the Big Sandy River in Kentucky. Dan was an avid fisherman, and loved to hunt. He was also an avid Kentucky Wildcat's, and Dallas Cowboys fan. But his greatest love was his grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years Juanita Coleman. He is also survived by 6 children, Son Danny Coleman and his wife Susan of Dry Fork, Daughter Donna Talent of Danville, son Johnnie Coleman of Danville, daughter Pam Shelton and husband Curtis of Dry Fork, daughter Selena Reynolds of Danville, and daughter Ann Austin and husband Melvin of Danville. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by 12 Grand Children, and 16 Great Grandchildren. Dan was predeceased by his mother Mary Lynn Looney, father Miles Coleman, brothers James Coleman, Billy Coleman, Robert Coleman, Roger Coleman Donnie Coleman, Miles Coleman Jr., and one sister Maria Barker. He is also predeceased by a daughter in-law Dianne Coleman, and a great-grandchild Kameron Talent. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Townes Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Michael Hearp officiating. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 7 to 8:30 P.M. and at other times at the residence of Juanita Coleman wife of the deceased, 6012 Mt. Cross Road, Danville. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Coleman family.
