Curtis Murphy

Curtis Fields Murphy went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born in Providence, N.C. on April 1, 1932, to the late King Solomon Murphy, Sr. and Sadie Hudgins Murphy. Curtis was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Curtis was a Veteran of The United States Army. He was employed by the City of Danville Cemeteries until his retirement. He was a member of Shermont Baptist Church. Curtis is survived by his son Steve Murphy and wife, Tami. Granddaughter Allison Murphy; great-grandson Bentley Shearin. He was predeceased by his wife Irma, Brothers Billy Murphy, Jimmy Murphy and sisters Delma Smith and Shirley Franklin. The family would like to thank Shanda, YaYa, Jamekia, Mattie and Joann for the care they provided to Curtis and Irma. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 2 pm from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Ryan Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew.
