Clarence L. (Pete) Moretz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. A son of the late Willard Monroe and Nannie Bell Moretz, he was born in Dante, Virginia, on December 11, l933. In addition to his parents, six brothers, and five sisters, Mr. Moretz was predeceded in death by a son, Clarence L., Jr. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Alta Jeanette Moretz, and their children: Sharon Smith of Milton, NC, Lisa Mast and husband, Burl of Madison, MS, and Mark Moretz and wife, Sandra of Burleson, TX; four grandchildren, Justin Mast of Anchorage, AK, Mitchell Mast and wife, Brittany, of Canton, MS, and Brenna and Kara Moretz of Burleson, TX. He is also survived by one beloved sister, Nila Rose of Bristol, TN, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Moretz worked in the steel mills in Indiana for a number of years before returning to Virginia. He retired from the bridge construction business and loved spending time with his family. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the wealth of his labors. Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 4 at 6:00 P.M. at Townes Funeral Home of Danville. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Abingdon, VA.
