Clara Royster Lewis, age 90 of 768 Arlington Road died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Lewis was born in Danville on April 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Maude Slade Royster and Jesse Carr Royster. Mrs. Lewis was a lifelong member of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church and held many offices over the years. She was married on February 28, 1947 to the late Calvin Fuller Lewis who died on March 5, 2011. Surviving are her loving daughter; Judy Lewis Tuck and her husband Edward of South Boston, VA, sister, Ruth R. Pearson, grandchildren, Natalie B. Whitlow and her husband William and Lori Brooks Luther, Chris Luther, four great-grandchildren, Tyler Lewis Whitlow, Brianna Whitlow, Cami Whitlow and Christopher Luther, brothers-in-law, Robert Lewis and his wife Hilda of Spring Garden, Clarence Lewis and his wife Florence, John Lewis and his wife Geraldine, Felix Lewis and his wife Marie, and Paul Lewis and his wife Barbara all of Danville. The Lewis family would like to especially thank the Reverend Paul Johnson for being so close to them at all times, and a special thanks to Florence and Clarence Lewis who gave so much of their time and love to us all. Also the special caretakers who lovingly looked after Mom til the end, Annie Waller, Faye Turner, Donna Rose and others. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Paul Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence, 768 Arlington Road. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Lewis family.
