Christine Tyburski

July 22, 1947 — September 16, 2015

Christine Theresa Korcz Tyburski, 68, of Candlewood Drive in Blairs, was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Walter Korcz and the late Jean Gondek Korcz. She was a devoted and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, and a faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. Christine was strong in her faith. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and loved singing and praising God both during services and in everyday life, found strength in daily prayer, and shared her belief in and passion for a loving God and the communion of saints with young people. "Mrs. T" had an impact on the lives of hundreds of students and families in the Sacred Heart Catholic School and Church communities, where she served as a teacher's aide, religion teacher, First Holy Communion organizer, and afterschool program coordinator over 21 years before her retirement in June 2015. In addition to her service at Sacred Heart during more than 30 years of residence in the Danville area, she had previously worked at Sylvan Learning Centers of Danville, for Karen's Hallmark in Piedmont Mall, and as a loan servicing officer at Sovran Bank. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth S. Tyburski of the residence, to whom she was married for 42 years; three devoted sons, Kenneth C. Tyburski of Raleigh, Kevin Tyburski and his wife Stephanie (Hefti) of Danville, and Mark Tyburski, of Richmond; one loving sister, Diane Swanson, of Bethpage, New York; and two wonderful grandchildren, Ethan and Ellyana. The family will receive visitors at the residence during the week and at a wake from 7:00-8:30 PM on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Townes Funeral Home on W. Main St. in Danville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 538 Central Boulevard in Danville, with Fr. Jonathan Goertz officiating. The family is in the process of establishing a memorial foundation to honor Christine's dedication to the service of the Lord and of others; if you are interested in contributing to this effort, please contact the family at mrstfoundation@outlook.com. Memorial donations may also be made to the Danville Cancer Association, which helped Christine through her illness with their resources and support. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street in Danville is serving the Tyburski family.
