Charles West

The Reverend Charles William Thomas West, 89, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2019 at Riverside Health Care.      He was born on June 3, 1929 in Louisville, KY, a son of the late Robert West and Jessie Matlock West.      Tom was an ordained Presbyterian minister and attended King College, Bristol, TN and earned his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA.       For many years he served as pastor for Bethany Presbyterian Church and Kentuck Presbyterian Church.  He was an honorably retired pastor of the Presbytery of the Peaks and attended First Presbyterian Church where he taught the Outlook Sunday School Class for a number of years and was member of the Chancel Choir.       Tom served over 33,000 hours as a volunteer at Danville Regional Medical Center.  He was an avid runner and ran in a number of marathons.  He was a member of the Danville Running and Fitness Club. Tom loved to read and was a volunteer reader at Grove Park School.       He was the last surviving member of his family.       Memorial Services will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm with the Reverend John McDonald officiating.
