Charles Dorton

Charles Elmer Dorton, 80, of 115 Shannon Drive , Danville, died June 12, 2019 at SOVAH Health in Danville. He was born in October 24, 1938, at Jewel Ridge, VA to the late Carl L. Dorton and Leona Shell Dorton. Charlie grew up in Buchanan County, VA.  He graduated from Garden High School and Bluefield Business College.  After selling insurance in several cities, he opened Dorton Insurance Agency in Danville. Charlie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  He was a Mason for over fifty years. He is survived by his wife of the home, Margaret J. Dorton, three daughters, Karen Winstead (Clark), Nina Dorton and Mary Dorton, all of Danville.  His is also survived by grandsons, Benjamin Winstead (Amanda) and Ethan Dorton (Rebecca). He was predeceased by a grandson, Adam C. Winstead.    A private graveside service was held with the Reverend Jeffrey Wright officiating.  Masonic Rites was conducted by the Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge # 122.
