Charles Coleman

Charles W. Coleman Jr.  was called home to dwell with the Lord on May 24, 2019. He was born October 25th, 1946 in Danville, Virginia.     He passed away at SOVAH Health hospital after two years of declining health. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1965. He attended Patrick Henry Community College.     Charlie retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber, where he worked as an area manager for 35 years. He also worked at Porters Auto Parts part time.    Charlie loved nascar, dirt track racing, Redskin football, New York Yankee baseball, and Duke basketball.    He was a member of the Riveroak Church of God.    He was also a member of the Poquoson Tribe No. 124 Improved Order of Redman.    Charlie is predeceased by his father Charles William Coleman Sr. and Mother Lillie Mae Fowler Coleman. He is survived by his wife Betty Coleman, His children Charles Christopher Coleman (Sally), Jennifer Dix (Scott), Jacqueline Marshall (Jerry), Shannon Slade (Heath), Chris Rakes (Tammie) and eight grandchildren Austin Gregory, Carleigh Beth Coleman, Evan Dix, Perry White, Cameron Marshall, Parker White, Lillie Dix, and Carlie Raye Marshall.    The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday night May 28th 2019 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and other times at 426 Rosemary Lane, Danville, VA.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
