Charles Eppes Carter, age 96, retired Danville attorney passed on July 6, 2023 in Midlothian Virginia. He was founder of Carter Craig, Attorneys at Law, past President of The Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, The Danville Bar Association, Exchange Club, German Club, Young Men’s Club and former member of Main Street Methodist Church. He also served in the Army JAGC during the Koran conflict. He is survived by his loving wife Maria C. Carter of Midlothian VA; daughters, Kathryn C. Morgan (Robin) of Richmond VA, Elizabeth C. Beckmann (David) of Centennial CO; son Charles E. Carter, Jr. of Midlothian VA; two step children Elizabeth C. Raine (Randy) of Wicomico Church VA, Andrew J. Carmichael (Lora) of Plano TX; seven grandchildren, Carrie M. Vurens van Es (Robert), Robin M. Morgan, Jr. (Faren), Christopher C. Carter (Katherine), Zachary H. Carter (Brooke), Jeffrey D. Beckmann (Heather), Rachel N. Frank (George) and Ryan J. Beckmann; nine great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren. Charles was a loving generous husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His parents Mr. and Mrs. J. Kenneth Carter, brother Joel Kenneth Carter, Jr., sisters Julia C. Sagoci and Anne C. Worsley predeceased him. Visitation will be held at Townes Funeral Home in Danville VA from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Monday, July 17, 2023. Private interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery.
