Charles Edward Blackstock, 89, passed away Sunday, October 08, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living in Danville after a decline in health. He was born in Danville on December 1, 1927, a son of the late Robert S. Blackstock and Jessie Garrett Blackstock. He attended the Danville City Schools and was a graduate of George Washington High School. He was employed with J. T. Townes Printing Company for 32 years and was Secretary and Treasurer when he retired in 1994. A member of College Park Baptist Church, he had served as a Trustee, Deacon, Church Clerk and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He had been a member of Bethesda Lodge No. 57 I. O. O. F and had served as Treasure of the Pittsylvania Baptist Association for 20 years. Survivors include a brother, Robert S. Blackstock (Hazel) of Owensboro, Kentucky; a niece, Lisa Blackstock Roberson of Douglasville, Georgia; and a special friend, Florence Westbrook of Danville Funeral services will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11 am with the Reverend Dr. CAM McIntire, the Reverend Archer McIntire and the Reverend Dr. Gary Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 7 to 8 pm and at other times will be at 1387 Pumpkin Creek Lane.
