Cathy Jean Hamlett Roberson, 53, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence. Born on June 30, 1960 in Danville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Douglas Anderson Hamlett and Nancy Holt Hamlett. She was a 1978 graduate of George Washington High School. She earned a degree in business administration from Radford College and later received a degree in computer science from Wake Tech. She was a resident of Fuquay-Varina since 1983, where she was a computer analyst for the U. S. Postal Service. She then moved back to Danville in 2012. She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Willow Springs, NC. She is survived by a son, Jonathan Taylor Rodden of Wilmington, NC; a daughter, Emily Katherine Rodden of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Connie H. Richie of Danville, VA., and Cindy H. Thompson and her husband, Charlie "PeeWee" of Sutherlin, VA; and two nieces, Angela Napier and her husband, Tommy of Danville, VA and Casey M. Thompson of Raleigh, NC. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 3:00 PM from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Brian Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of her sister, Connie Richie, 241 April Lane on Saturday, August 24, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and on Sunday, at Townes Funeral Home, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to The ALS Association, 1275 K Street NW, Suite 250, Washington, D.C. 20005. The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers, "Dixie" Grosz and Lacey Dudley.
