Cathy Lynette Giles of Greenwood Lane, Danville passed away August 14, 2017 after a year of failing health. She was predeceased by her mother, Catherine East Giles, father Haynesworth Giles, and brother Phillip Giles. She is survived by brother Steve Giles of Danville, sister Elizabeth Irwin and brother-in-law Richard Irwin of Glendora, CA, niece Shay Irwin Ray and great niece Jessica Violet Ray of San Dimas, CA. Cathy was the first director of the Danville Humane Society and also worked as a respiratory therapist at SOVAH Hospital in Danville. She was a prolific writer and photographer and a lover of all God’s animals and nature, especially her own pets. She had two books self-published, Talking Out Loud and Under My Breath, which she shared with family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, Sept 2, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1172 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA with a luncheon and celebration of her life immediately following the service.
