Carrol Edgar Higgins passed away at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation Healthcare on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the age of 77, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Danville, Virginia, on November 25, 1944, to the late George Edgar Higgins and the late Etha Elliott Higgins. He is survived by his wife, Jettye Payne Higgins. Carrol was a faithful member of Salem Church of Christ. He graduated from George Washington High School and Danville Technical Institute (now Danville Community College). He retired from the City of Danville as an accountant in the Finance Department. In addition to his wife, Carrol is survived by his son, Brandon Scott Higgins, and wife, Cindy Yancey Higgins; a granddaughter, Madeline (Madi) Diane Higgins, and a grandson, Tyler Yancey Higgins. He is also survived by his best friend and brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Bailey; niece, Lara Bailey Buchanan and husband, Jud; and nephews, J. B. Buchanan, Darrell Buchanan and Dylan Buchanan. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Bettye Payne Bailey. Carrol enjoyed working on and riding in his 1932 Ford three-window coupe. For many years, he loved playing golf with many of his friends. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Highland Burial Park on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 2 pm by Minister Larry Owen and Minister Hershel Stone. Visitation with the family will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Salem Church of Christ, 185 Union Hall School Road, Chatham, Virginia 24531.
