Carolyn Adkins

Carolyn Stuart Slade Adkins, 71, of Blairs, Va. passed away Thursday evening, November 28, 2019 at SOVAH Health in Danville, Va.      She was born in Danville, Va. on June 25, 1948, a daughter of the late Halcourt Stuart Slade and Dorothea “Dottie” White Slade.      Carolyn was educated in the Danville City Schools and was a member of White Oak Worship Center. On June 18, 1969 she married Michael James Adkins and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.      In addition to her husband, Michael, she is survived by a son, Michael S. Adkins of Tampa, Fl.; two daughters, Michele A. Meadows of Burlington, N.C. and Paula A. Jones of Eclectic, Ala.; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.      Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 2 pm at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Roger Ewing officiating.  Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.      The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 pm and at other times will be at the residence.
